About the Moonah Classic 2012
To be staged on the acclaimed Open Course, the Moonah Classic is a joint venture partnership between the PGA of Australia and the Handbury Group. Co-sanctioned by the US Nationwide Tour, the event offers a prize pool of US650,000.00.
The Nationwide Tour is the secondary series on the lucrative US PGA circuit and provides a unique opportunity for Australian players to test their skills against international players. This is the only event on Australian soil that conducts this sanctioning with the Nationwide Tour.
It was played for the first time from February 21-24, 2008 at Moonah Links on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. The 2009 purse was US$600,000 (AU$923,077).
The tournament replaced the Jacob’s Creek Open Championship.
